Boonah is a country town south-west of Brisbane, set in the Fassifern Valley against the backdrop of the Main Range, and is widely regarded as the heart of the Scenic Rim. It functions as the rural service centre for the surrounding district — farms producing vegetables, beef and other crops — and has a relaxed main street of shops and cafes, regular markets and a strong, settled community identity.
For people living with disability, the practical reality of Boonah is rural: there is no rail service and limited public transport, and the number of local providers is small. The town does, however, have the Boonah Health Service, a 23-bed facility with a 24-hour emergency department and a range of visiting allied-health, dental and community clinics, which keeps a good deal of essential care within town rather than requiring a long trip. Boonah sits within the Scenic Rim Regional Council area.
Supportr provides consistent NDIS support to participants in Boonah and across the Fassifern Valley — personal care and daily living routines at home, in-home domestic help, and social and community participation. Because transport is a genuine barrier here, getting participants to appointments, the health service, shops and activities is built into how we work. We assign each person a small team of two or three support workers and keep that team stable, and we welcome both self-managed and plan-managed participants.
